As a Trailer Technician at J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc., you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and safety of our trailers. You will be responsible for performing complex maintenance, service, and repair of trailers, containers, chassis, and other equipment. Your expertise will be essential in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and completing all fleet maintenance processes to meet J.B. Hunt specifications.

• Perform advanced preventative maintenance, replacement of parts/components, and complex repairs related to trailer maintenance, air brake systems, and FHWA Inspections.
• Troubleshoot trailer issues and accurately perform the most difficult repairs to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders, and exceed company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines.
• Participate in Original Equipment Manufacture training for OE repairs.
• Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures.
• Maintain professional communication with JB Hunt personnel and customers at all times.
• Complete secondary maintenance on escalated repairs.
• May troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair specialized trailer equipment, such as refrigerated units.
• May onboard and mentor new technician trainees; act as team lead to coordinate shift support and tasks.

Wednesday to Saturday 6:00am-4:30pm

• Must be 18 years of age with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
• Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences:
  • Must be A/C certified.
  • Must be DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes.
  • Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in the elements.
  • Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed.
• Preferred qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent.
  • EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License.
  • Advanced welding skills (MIG and stick).
  • Knowledge of ABS systems.
  • Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
