**Job Title:** Project Coordinator
**Job Summary:** We are seeking a highly skilled Project Coordinator to join our team at PADCOM Design and Construction Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and execution of projects related to the construction, modernization, installation, and repair of school facilities and other District buildings.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in planning, coordinating, and expediting projects related to the construction, modernization, installation, and repair of schools, administrative buildings, and other facilities.
- Serve as a liaison between District Project Management Units, Maintenance and Operations Areas, Environmental Consultants, and Abatement Contractors involved in facilities construction, renovation, and repair projects.
- Review Requests for Assistance (RFAs) with technical staff, determine project scope, and review project drawings.
- Perform initial funding reviews and collaborate with accounting staff to ensure proper project funding; prepare funding request packages.
- Plan and track project progress, monitor labor charges, and report on job status.
- Request and review cost proposals from environmental consultants to ensure accuracy, rationality, and feasibility.
- Work with technical personnel to estimate costs for asbestos and lead abatement.
- Initiate and execute contracts related to asbestos abatement, lead remediation, and task orders under A&B and JOC contracts.
- Coordinate and assist in scheduling lead and asbestos abatements prior to demolition and renovation of school facilities; manage temporary housing logistics for students and staff during these activities.
- Review contractor submittals, daily logs, and certified payrolls to approve invoices.
- Analyze requests for changes in project scope and evaluate the validity of change orders and cost increases.
- Support project closeout and certification efforts for technical staff.
- Prepare and justify requests for bid processing; coordinate and monitor the contract award process.
- Update project tracking sheets to monitor progress and provide timely reports.
- Attend job start meetings to review asbestos, lead, and safety requirements with contractors and other parties, ensuring that meeting minutes are documented and distributed.
- **Required Experience:** Minimum of 3 years of full-time, paid professional experience in project or construction management, preferably within educational facility construction or public agency projects.
- **Required Education:** Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Environmental Sciences from a recognized university.
- **Preferred Experience and Skills:** Familiarity with safety construction protocols, Cal OSHA requirements, and environmental procedures is a plus. Experience using an Asset and Work Management System (e.g., Maximo) is preferred.
