Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Associate Technical Writer/Graphic Designer to join our team at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). The successful candidate will assist in developing and maintaining a reliable, accessible, and secure IT infrastructure environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Writing: Draft, edit, and produce highly technical publications for the DHS, OCIO, including user manuals, guides, and reports.
  • Graphic Design: Create high-quality graphics, including flowcharts, process charts, and infographics, to support DHS, OCIO publications, briefings, and presentations.
  • Visual Communications: Provide one-on-one consultations to assess, interpret, and develop visuals as needed to support the Visual Analytic mission and apply knowledge of design principles to create succinct visual compositions.
  • Project Management: Establish proposed timelines for creative materials for management and client consideration.
  • Visual Information Management: Help manage all aspects of producing visual information for print and online uses, including the design, creation, and preparation of support visuals.

Requirements:

  • BA Degree and four years of professional experience combined in technical writing and graphic design.
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, including executive briefings, standard operating procedures (SOP), and training presentations.
  • Working knowledge of production, including print, binding, and finishing equipment.
  • Knowledge of photography, video production, and social media platforms is a plus.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite.
