Role Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine and specialized laboratory procedures, review and validate clinical test outcomes for patient diagnosis and treatment in line with established protocols for high complexity laboratories as per the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 standards.
  • Our Medical Laboratories deliver comprehensive testing services for all patients receiving care within our health system.
  • Our laboratories are equipped with cutting-edge technology and staffed by a dedicated team committed to exceeding the expectations of both physicians and patients.
Key Duties:
  • Handle infectious and hazardous materials safely.
  • Capable of performing troubleshooting on major and minor laboratory instruments.
  • Ensure all corrective actions are implemented when test systems deviate from established performance criteria.
  • Monitor testing processes and specimen evaluations to maintain acceptable levels of analytical performance.
  • Guarantee that patient test results are not released until all corrective measures have been taken and the testing system is functioning correctly.
  • Provide training and orientation to new testing personnel.
  • Incorporate the organization's mission and goals into daily operations.
  • Perform additional related tasks as assigned.
  • Must undergo fingerprinting and a criminal history check.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology (Medical Technology), biological, chemical, or a related field; completion of a clinical laboratory educational rotation is required.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with coursework in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics, along with successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Medical Technologist program.

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution, including 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in biological science (with one semester in microbiology), 16 semester hours (24 quarter hours) in chemistry, one semester (one quarter) in mathematics, and one year of full-time clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and/or Clinical Microscopy within the last decade, under the supervision of a certified pathologist or medical scientist.

  • Over five years of verifiable experience in a clinical laboratory environment;
  • Certification from ASCP, AMT, or NCA as a Medical Technologist is required.
  • Certification-eligible individuals must pass the qualifying examination from the credentialing agency within 12 months of employment or will revert to Medical Technologist I.
  • Consideration will be given to previously certified Medical Technologists who meet the credentialing requirements.
  • Strong understanding of laboratory methodologies, result interpretation, quality assurance, and CMS regulations is preferred, along with the ability to train new staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Visual acuity, including depth perception and color discrimination, is necessary.
  • Basic computer literacy is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
