We're seeking a skilled Lead Medical Assistant to join our team in Port Jefferson and Riverhead locations. As a Lead Medical Assistant, you will lead by example, providing exceptional patient care while supporting the growth and development of your colleagues.

Job Details

In this role, you can expect:

  • To float between NYH locations in Port Jefferson and Riverhead, NY.
  • To manage patient intakes, ensuring accurate information recording.
  • To collect and process lab specimens, including venipuncture and diagnostic tests.
  • To record patients' vital signs.
  • To prepare patients for examinations.
  • To sterilize medical equipment and instruments.
  • To assist providers and other support staff in the data entry process.
  • To assist physicians during visits with examinations and all office procedures.
  • To perform diagnostic testing under the direct supervision of a Physician or APP.
  • To perform EKGs and point-of-care testing.
  • To assist with the Medical Assistant provider assignments.
  • To assist with ordering and stocking of medical supplies.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A Medical Assistant Certificate and a High School Diploma.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
  • Proficiency in OncoEMR (preferred).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending and reaching.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Willingness to travel to NYH locations.
