Newport Beach, California, United States PIMCO Full time
Company Overview
PIMCO stands as a premier authority in active fixed income, showcasing profound expertise across both public and private markets.

We strategically allocate our clients' investments across a diverse array of fixed income and credit prospects, drawing upon our extensive experience in navigating intricate debt markets.

Our adaptable capital structure and robust relationships with issuers have positioned us as one of the leading providers of both traditional and innovative financing solutions for corporations in need of capital and investors pursuing optimal risk-adjusted returns.

Position Summary
We are in search of a seasoned Credit Research Analyst to join our team. This role will primarily focus on Investment Grade and High Yield credits within the financial sector.

The Credit Research Analyst will conduct thorough analyses of various industries and the companies operating within them, delivering insightful investment recommendations to PIMCO's portfolio management team.

Additionally, this role will provide essential analytical support to portfolio managers by identifying risks and formulating investment strategies regarding specific companies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fundamental and relative value research on current holdings and generate credit-focused investment ideas tailored to the sector.
  • Engage proactively with portfolio managers to communicate investment insights and participate in collaborative discussions.
  • Prepare comprehensive written reports, including company evaluations, quarterly updates, relative value analyses, and industry assessments.
  • Address inquiries from portfolio managers concerning credit risks, market trends, and sector developments.
  • Collaborate with clients or client service professionals as necessary.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 12 years of experience in credit or equities research, whether on the buy or sell side. A completed MBA or CFA designation, along with relevant investment experience, is required.

Preferred candidates will have prior experience covering issuers in the banking, brokerage, and specialty finance sectors, ideally with a solid understanding of statutory accounting and financial regulations.

Essential skills include a strong grasp of U.S. banks across the capital structure, particularly knowledge of the bank preferred market, as well as robust financial modeling capabilities.

The candidate should demonstrate the ability to conduct thorough corporate analysis, including on-site evaluations, financial modeling, and relative value assessments. A proven track record of making informed judgments regarding credit, risk, and valuation is essential.

Successful candidates will be proactive in generating viable investment ideas and capable of advocating for these ideas to portfolio managers independently.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are critical, along with the ability to collaborate effectively within the credit research and portfolio management teams.
