Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Epidemiology Supervisor to join our team at the Georgia Department of Public Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising and guiding the work of subordinate staff, collecting and analyzing statistical data, and preparing epidemiologic reports.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and plan the work of assigned staff, ensuring the effective implementation of epidemiologic programs.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret complex statistical data, and prepare reports to inform public health decisions.
  • Provide training, technical assistance, and consultative services to staff and external partners on epidemiology and disease control.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures for disease control programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Design and lead long-term epidemiologic projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve public health goals.
  • Manage and oversee the work of the Epi/Communicable Disease Specialist team, HIV Prevention team, and Ryan White clinic staff.
  • Oversee the COVID-19 response, including contact tracing, case investigation, and data processing.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of epidemiologic programs for the control of communicable and chronic diseases.
Requirements
  • Doctorate degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience performing epidemiologic work or work in a closely related field, or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage public health projects and work independently and as part of a team.
  • Competent with computer and application skills, including Microsoft Office and SAS.
