Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Technician to join our team at Medical Specialists of the Palm Beaches, Inc. in Atlantis, Florida.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $55,000 - $65,000, depending on experience. Our benefits package includes access to health, dental, and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, PTO and Holiday pay, company-paid life insurance, and 401K with automatic employer contribution.

Job Description

As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for performing laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support scientific investigations. Your duties will include:

Pre-Analytical Tasks
  • Performing administrative tasks such as maintaining quality-assurance records, writing or updating laboratory procedure manuals, taking inventory and ordering laboratory supplies, and maintaining Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs).
  • Specimen collection, labeling, preparation, processing, and logging.
  • Assessing specimens for rejection criteria and ensuring specimen identification throughout the analytical process.
Analytical Tasks
  • Performing quality control tests and recording results.
  • Performing tests as listed on training documentation form as qualified to perform.
  • Performing proficiency tests and reviewing results with the laboratory director.
Post-Analytical Tasks
  • Assessing quality of analytical performance by checking results for validity using QC, known correlations with other analytes, reference ranges for age and sex of patient, reportable range of analyte, and other factors which may affect test results.
  • Recording and/or reporting patient test results.
  • Filing reports for storage.
Other Duties
  • Performing simple patient procedures when directed by physician.
  • Performing office duties such as answering phone, data entry, etc.
  • Ordering supplies.
  • Keeping work area clean and organized.
  • Performing other duties as requested by supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a laboratory setting.
  • Knowledge of laboratory procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
