Tennis Channel Broadcast Engineer Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Engineer to join our team at Tennis Channel. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for maintaining and servicing our SMPTE 2110 broadcast and streaming facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on a variety of computer and electronic devices, including video, audio, switching equipment, and streaming devices.
  • Maintain broadcast IP equipment software, hardware, and local area network applications throughout the facility.
  • Train and mentor engineering team members on Avid and automation systems for production control rooms, master control, transmission, and digital operations center.
  • Respond to trouble calls with broadcast or computer equipment, sometimes after normal business hours.
  • Keep software versions up to date, ensure software license compliance, and follow all corporate directives for IT security.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of engineering practices, including observing OSHA safety rules, installing new equipment using CAD drawings, and creating user SOPs.
  • Assist in planning future equipment installations, requirements, and budgetary recommendations.
  • Maintain flexible hours during live tennis tournaments and travel to remote locations to support productions as needed.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in broadcast television.
  • Strong leadership and exceptional communication skills.
  • 21st-century skill set, a great team-oriented attitude, and a dedication to quality.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workflows relating to computer-based editing systems, including media archiving and storage.
  • Strong technical support with Avid, automation systems, and streaming platforms.
  • Experience installing and upgrading SMPTE 2110 broadcast equipment to improve workflows.

Compensation:

The base salary compensation range for this role is $98,000 to $150,000. Final compensation will be determined by various factors, including relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location.
