Job Description & Requirements

Supplemental Health Care is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired to join our team in Charleston, South Carolina.

As a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, you will work closely with students, parents, and educators to provide individualized support and accommodations to ensure students with visual impairments reach their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess students' needs and develop personalized educational plans to maximize their ability to benefit from educational programs and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary education teams, parents, and community agencies to coordinate and provide services.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including written reports, to guide educational planning and progress monitoring.
  • Stay up-to-date with current laws, regulations, and strategies in special education to ensure best practices.
  • Utilize knowledge of Braille, vision assessment instruments, and low vision aids to support students' learning.

Requirements:

  • Teaching Certification with State-appropriate Teacher of the Visually Impaired Special Education Endorsement.
  • Prefer 1 year of experience in a school setting.
