We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team at The Food Source International, Inc. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic food manufacturing environment where you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and safety of our products.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct routine quality checks on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods using established testing protocols and equipment.
- Coordinate product sampling and sample submission to a 3rd party laboratory.
- Document and report any deviations from established quality standards to production and management teams.
- Perform and maintain records of daily calibration checks on scales and other equipment (when applicable).
- Participate in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Conduct audits of production processes, including sanitation and hygiene practices, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Assist in the investigation and resolution of customer complaints related to product quality and safety.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure that product specifications and quality standards are met consistently.
- Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment and ensure that laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
- Provide training and guidance to production personnel on quality standards, testing procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, regulatory requirements, and best practices in quality assurance.
- High school diploma or equivalent required, associate's or bachelor's degree in food science, chemistry, or a related field a plus.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a quality assurance role in a food manufacturing environment required.
- Working knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards including HACCP, BRC, and cGMPs.
- Ability to perform laboratory tests and measurements and use laboratory equipment effectively and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and communicate quality issues effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and experience with ERP systems and quality management software preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
This position requires working in a laboratory and production environment. The successful candidate must be able to start with a day shift position and be able to work flexible hours and shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed. The successful candidate will need to be able to work in multiple locations as needed.
