Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our team at Texas Children's Hospital. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Process prescriptions and medication orders, preparing medications for dispensing
  • Ensure proper distribution and delivery of pharmaceutical and supply shipments
  • Verify that medication doses are delivered within established departmental time-frame standards
  • Complete and document daily and monthly activity checklists, including expired drug checking, cleaning assignments, and ordering supplies and forms
  • Monitor and respond to all available means of communication, including email and mailboxes
  • Perform daily filing, including medication orders and stop orders
  • Collaborate with Materials and Logistics to maintain adequate stock of medications and supplies
  • Assist in the implementation of new formulations for manufactured products, new repackaged products, or any product deletions, including updating the Master Formulation Book and maintaining the M&R computer program
  • Conduct weekly inspections of pharmacy areas to ensure adequate supply of drug accountability logs and study drugs
Qualifications
  • Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPHT-TX) certification from the State Board of Pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Intern (PHAR INT) certification
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT) certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
  • 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician
  • 40 hours of training in compounding sterile products accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) or the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP)
