Position Requirements- An associate's degree in nursing is required; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A valid Registered Nurse license is mandatory.
- BLS and ACLS certifications must be obtained prior to employment.
- Experience in surgical or critical care settings is advantageous.
- Demonstrates a solid understanding of anatomy and physiology, with the capability to monitor and respond to changing patient conditions before and after surgery.
- Collaborates with healthcare team members, including fellow nurses, surgeons, and anesthesia providers, to create and adjust personalized care plans based on patient assessments.
- Identifies and communicates potential risks to patients, such as abnormal lab results or EKG readings, to the surgical team.
- Reports directly to the department director or Charge RN regarding patient care and departmental operations.
- Takes accountability for all aspects of pre- and postoperative nursing care.
- Manages preoperative preparations, ensuring all necessary lab work and testing are completed for surgical patients.
- Notifies physicians or anesthesiologists of any concerning lab results.
- Provides comprehensive preoperative and postoperative care, including assessments and interventions necessary for surgical patients.
- Maintains accurate documentation in all required systems.
- Engages in patient education before and after surgery, addressing questions and explaining procedures clearly.
- Upholds consistent care standards across all settings where surgical and invasive procedures are performed.
