Job Summary

Randstad Digital Americas is seeking a highly skilled Data Center Technician to join our team in managing state-of-the-art data center operations throughout the United States for a multinational banking and financial services holding company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rack and stack enterprise class technology (network, storage and enterprise servers) in a high availability data center environment.
  • Run, trace, dress and test copper and fiber cables from patch panel to device, ensuring seamless connectivity.
  • Familiarize yourself with patch panels and commission and decommission hardware as needed.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics of hardware and connectivity issues, adhering to change control processes.
  • Replace components (DIMMs, hard drives, power supplies) as required, ensuring minimal downtime.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working in a complex high availability data center environment, providing layer one hardware installation, ongoing maintenance, problem identification and incident resolution.
  • A strong working knowledge of data center processes and design, with hands-on expertise of midrange systems in large scale (100+ servers) environments.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem resolution skills, with the ability to document complex problem resolution summaries and repetitive tasks interfaces through an online ticketing system.
  • Understanding of switch/port configurations and critical thinking skills related to outage risk assessment.
  • Strong cable management skills and experience managing fiber & copper in a data center environment.
