Company Overview:

McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of the Pacific Northwest, operating in commercial quarries, timberlands, and construction sites throughout the Western US.

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will be physically fit and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. The primary responsibility for this position will be learning how to safely and efficiently maintain and operate a rock drill machine. Apprentices will operate drills all over the Pacific Northwest in the woods, at rock pits, quarries, development sites, and even highway projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate rock drill machines safely and efficiently
  • Assist the blast crew with loading and unloading explosives from the truck
  • Help carry buckets of crushed stone to stem blast holes

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance
  • Able to pass pre-employment drug test
  • Clean driving record (no more than three moving violations within the last three years)
  • Clean criminal history
  • Reliable transportation to our base shop in Cheney, WA
  • Must have positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Must be a team player
  • Prior construction laborer experience a plus
  • Willing to work weekends as needed
