Radiology Technologist Job Description

Lafayette Surgical Specialty Hospital is seeking a skilled Radiology Technologist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct patient interviews to obtain medical history and provide essential information regarding patient safety, contrast media contraindications, and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and accrediting body standards in radiology.
  • Maintain proper cleaning and handling of x-ray equipment and biohazard materials.
  • Guarantee patient and employee safety through competency in the use of all equipment and safety equipment, including radiation safety signs, dosimeter badges, and proper documentation of radiation exposure.
  • Position patients correctly in the scanner and provide instructions related to breathing, communication, observation, and sequence length.
  • Enter accurate patient information into the computer, select the appropriate protocol, and scan patients within acceptable time frames, making necessary adjustments.
  • Transport equipment and patients safely to prevent injury and damage.
  • Produce high-quality images in accordance with optimum imaging standards for radiologist interpretation and complete archiving responsibilities.
  • Perform assigned responsibilities as X-ray, C-arm fluoroscopy, CT, and procedure technologist based on competencies and certifications.
  • Apply age/developmental stage concepts in interactions with patients and families.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a technologist in a surgical setting.
  • Current CPR certification and registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or registry eligibility and licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written, and computer skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure quality patient care.
