Highway Maintenance Crew Chief

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highway Maintenance Crew Chief to join our team at the State of Nebraska. As a key member of our transportation maintenance team, you will be responsible for leading a crew of highway maintenance workers and overseeing the maintenance of highways, roadsides, and other pavement surfaces.

• Lead a crew of highway maintenance workers and assign tasks to ensure efficient completion of maintenance activities.
• Operate and maintain a variety of equipment, including trucks, rollers, frontend loaders, and motor graders.
• Perform independent skilled maintenance duties, including snow and ice removal, and ensure that all work is conducted in a safe manner.
• Train and guide the work assignments of highway maintenance workers and assist the supervisor in the management of personnel.
• Monitor and report on the work performance of crew members and ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards.
• Collaborate with other teams to ensure seamless maintenance operations and resolve any issues that may arise.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A valid Class A or B Commercial Drivers License with air brakes and tanker endorsements.
• At least 5 years of experience in highway maintenance, including experience with equipment operation and maintenance.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to interpret and follow instructions.
• A strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols.
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
