About the Role

Mission Hospital is seeking a highly skilled and experienced First Assistant to join our team in the Operating Room. As a First Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our surgeons during various surgical procedures, including orthopedic trauma, orthopedic, spine, neuro, gynecologic, general, and robotic surgeries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist surgeons during surgical procedures, including preparing patients, maintaining a sterile environment, and passing instruments.
  • Develop and maintain advanced skills in procedures performed on the unit, including orthopedic trauma, neuro, orthopedic, spine, gynecologic, general, and robotic surgeries.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure seamless execution of surgical procedures.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and skills to assist surgeons during various surgeries, including orthopedic trauma, orthopedic, spine, neuro, gynecologic, general, and robotic surgeries.
  • Advanced skills are needed in the procedures performed on the unit.
Work Environment
  • Shift: 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Scheduling requirements: flexible, call required.
  • Unit: Operating Room
  • Number of Beds: 29
  • Patient Ratios: 1:1
  • Type of equipment: Normal OR equipment, including 5 DaVinci robots, Mako, and Velys robots
  • Documentation system: Cerner
  • Procedures performed on unit: orthopedic trauma, neuro, orthopedic, spine, gynecologic, general, robotic, vascular, pediatric, ENT, plastics, podiatry, OMF, dental, and eye trauma
  • Dress Code: Scrubs provided
