Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality respiratory care to patients, ensuring accurate and complete physician prescriptions, and maintaining respiratory care equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure accurate and complete physician prescriptions
  • Compare prescription requests with medical record order forms and ensure information is complete
  • Clarify any discrepancies with physicians and provide patients/significant others with respiratory education
  • Provide prescribed respiratory therapy, including administering oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators
  • Perform vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements, as well as nasotracheal or artificial airway suctioning
  • Maintain mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, including testing for functioning and troubleshooting minor repairs and calibrations
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience
  • Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State, and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience required
