Executive Director Opportunity

The Museum of Sonoma County is seeking a visionary leader to serve as its next Executive Director. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the museum's mission to preserve and showcase the rich cultural heritage of Sonoma County.

About the Role

The Executive Director will provide strategic direction and leadership to the museum, overseeing financial management, fundraising, and program development. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of success in nonprofit leadership, with experience in fundraising, strategic planning, and team management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance the museum's mission and goals
  • Lead fundraising efforts to secure financial support for the museum's programs and operations
  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting and financial reporting
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the Board of Directors, donors, and community partners
  • Supervise and manage a team of staff and volunteers to ensure the effective operation of the museum
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of nonprofit experience at the executive or senior management level
  • Prior work with museums, art galleries, academic institutions, government, or related businesses
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and strategic planning
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fiscal management and marketing skills
  • Experience and knowledge of museum standards and practices
