Prototype Machinist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Prototype Machinist to join our team at Kimber Mfg., Inc. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working in a prototype machining environment, with a strong knowledge of Turning, Grinding, Milling, and ability to understand blueprints and GD&T.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and modify novel firearm parts, fixtures, and jigs to drawing specifications.
- Work from engineering drawings, sketches, or other written or oral instructions as well as tool design drawings.
- Maintain, Tooling, Fixturing, Materials, CNC programs in a systematic way to ensure proper execution of processes.
- Develop and fabricate tooling, fixtures to support machining and development of prototype parts and reworking parts.
- Develop and fabricate prototype tooling for Engineering lab assembly process for low volume builds.
- Make advanced program changes without supervision.
- Assure work areas is organized, clean and hazard free; implement 5S practices.
- Lathe, Mill, Surface Grind, OD Grind, EDM knowledge.
Requirements:
- Interpret technical prints (GD&T)
- Must have knowledge of CNC machine "G-Code" and troubleshooting skills
- Experience maintaining and changing tools
- Experience determining offsets and adjusting accordingly
- Working knowledge of measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, height stand)
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 5 Years of CNC experience.
Language Skills:
Excellent communication skills; reading, writing and listening. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret blueprints. Ability write and read spreadsheets
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
