POSITION SUMMARY:
This role involves a concise overview of the responsibilities.
The RN Clinical Nurse is an integral member of a multidisciplinary team comprising both licensed and unlicensed caregivers dedicated to providing tailored, high-quality care to patients, families, and significant others.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Exemplary Practice and Outcomes A. Executes the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in delivering clinical care, utilizing evidence-based practices, analytical thinking, and ensuring individualized care; coordinating efforts through effective partnerships, recognizing that compassionate care is vital for achieving optimal patient outcomes. B. Delivers relationship-centered patient care that aligns with population-specific characteristics (e.g., age, gender, health conditions) in a manner that respects cultural diversity. C. Consistently collaborates with patients and their significant others (as appropriate) through suitable methods for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report; interdisciplinary rounds; timely patient education; keeping patients and their families informed and focusing on the patient's goals in the care plan). D. Adheres to current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration A. Oversees the delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that enhances the professional care delivery model. This includes diverse and inclusive interdisciplinary communication methods (interdisciplinary rounds, case reviews, etc.); timely documentation completion and fostering a respectful, inclusive clinical environment. B. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration by practicing in a fiscally responsible manner and promoting the recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. C. Engages in and supports performance improvement initiatives involving all stakeholders, research, and research utilization to promote safe, quality patient care, including initiating and/or leading such activities and actively supporting shared governance at all levels. Professional Development and Initiative A. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments, required mandatory education, and population-specific education. B. Acts as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses (and staff or students from all disciplines) to ensure a current and future qualified workforce; exemplifying professional nursing practice and fostering a healthy work environment. Evidence-Based Practice and Research A. Advocates for evidence-based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement in nursing. Participates in activities such as value analysis as part of the decision-making process in evaluating patient care products. B. Upholds all healthcare system/organizational policies and procedures and clinical competencies outlined in this job description and professional association, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation requirements and standards, ensuring adherence to goals such as TJC Patient Safety Goals and WellStar Health Systems' safety absolutes. C. Participates in data collection, formulates relevant clinical questions for advanced evidence-based practice, consults appropriate experts, and utilizes suitable resources and evidence to address practice inquiries. Resources and Support A. Proactively plans for patient care across the continuum while providing direct patient care. B. Contributes to the development of protocols and procedures when called upon or through self-initiation in collaboration with care managers and other healthcare team members to achieve optimal practice outcomes (e.g., reducing readmission rates; minimizing avoidable days; preventing adverse events). C. Supports the efficient and effective use of human and material resources.
Required Minimum Education
Associate's Degree from an accredited/approved nursing school required; Bachelor's Degree (BSN) from an accredited nursing school preferred; National certification in specialty area preferred.
