We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to join our team at Edwards Vacuum, a global leader in vacuum and abatement technology. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading our manufacturing operations to achieve exceptional performance in terms of output, service levels, product availability, cost, and response to meet the commercial objectives of the business.
Main Responsibilities- Manage the day-to-day operational activities through Production Managers, Senior Materials Controllers, Planning Managers, Assembly and Machining Support Leads, Business Process Improvement Leads, and Manufacturing Engineers to exceed performance targets.
- Develop and implement strategies aimed at improvements in manufacturing to achieve cost reduction, quality improvement, and systems development, ensuring compliance with ISO 9001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 standards.
- Oversee operational expense budgets within agreed-upon targets and evaluate assigned staff skills, developing and deploying employee development programs.
- Manage human resources, including selection, staffing levels, coaching, discipline, manpower planning, and motivation of staff.
- Oversee the TMP business to achieve annual business goals for revenue and gross profit in coordination with regional and Global TMP strategies and provide monthly reports.
- Implement the Vacuum Technique Production System (VTPS B) across all seven zones within the facility and ensure compliance with safety procedures and statutory legislation.
- Degree-level education in an Engineering or Science discipline is desirable.
- Significant experience in multi-disciplined manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated history of leadership skills, including coaching, mentoring, performance management, and recruitment.
- Proven experience of change management, teamwork, active listening, communication, collaboration, and empathy.
- Strong track record of delivering results in an operational environment.
- Understanding of basic manufacturing financial concepts and strong supply chain skills.
- MCIPS or equivalent desirable.
- Experience of working with and implementing Lean principles.
- Excellent communication and fluency in spoken and written English.
