Key Responsibilities:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Acute Care is responsible for delivering patient care to a designated group of patients in accordance with the multidisciplinary care plan.
Working under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), the LPN demonstrates the necessary knowledge and skills to care for patients with acute medical, surgical, and post-critical care needs.
Typical patients include those with minimal to moderate risk, where care is largely routine, standardized, and outcomes are predictable.
Core Duties Include:
- Providing essential technical skills and procedures safely and effectively.
- Utilizing the nursing process to ensure quality patient care.
- Establishing priorities for patient care based on needs and available resources.
- Recognizing and managing potential health risks, initiating corrective actions as necessary.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to enhance patient care.
- Maintaining documentation in accordance with established guidelines.
Qualifications:
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- Current CPR certification.
- Unencumbered LPN licensure in Louisiana (mandatory).
- Preferred: One or more years of relevant experience.
