Job Title: Residential Child Care Worker

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Residential Child Care Worker to join our team at The Learning Center for the Deaf Inc. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of deaf children and youth.

Job Summary:

The Residential Child Care Worker will be responsible for implementing treatment plans and providing direct care and safety to the children residing at Walden School. This role requires a strong commitment to supporting the emotional, social, and educational needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise children in daily routines and assist with activities of daily living skills.
  • Support and assist children using methods that reflect the treatment philosophy of Walden School.
  • Develop and maintain meaningful relationships with children while maintaining appropriate adult/child boundaries.
  • Convey pertinent information concerning students to other staff via email, logs, and incident reports.
  • Maintain current certification in PART, Pro-Act, OSHA, CPR, and First Aid.
  • Utilize behavior management techniques consistent with the Walden School mission statement and individual students' treatment plans.
  • Prepare living skills activities that are age and skill appropriate for students in the unit.
Requirements:
  • At least one year of experience in a residential treatment program or a degree in Human Services.
  • Previous experience with crisis prevention and ability to prevent harmful behaviors.
  • Ability to remain calm, non-defensive, and supportive during crisis or potential crisis.
  • A minimum of conversational fluency in American Sign Language required, with native or near-native ASL fluency preferred.
