About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Vehicle Specialist to join our team at Rabbittransit. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on heavy duty vehicles, including inspections, greasing, lubrication, and repair of interior and exterior equipment and components.
  • Diagnose and repair complex vehicle system and sub-system components, including engines, drive trains, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and steering.
  • Ensure timely repair of vehicles by independently diagnosing and repairing issues, and completing road testing as required.
  • Control downtime of vehicles by receiving complaints, making evaluations, and making arrangements to tow disabled vehicles back to the shop for repair.
  • Preserve written records and comply with regulations and policies by completing all required record-keeping and report preparation timely and accurately.
  • Maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers and management by communicating necessary information, responding to requests, and participating in problem-solving methods.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience with diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing heavy duty vehicles, or 1+ year with applicable vocational training.
  • CDL A or B preferred, but will train.
  • Experience working on transit vehicles preferred.
  • Valid DOT medical card preferred.
  • ASE certification preferred in at least two (2) of the following certifications: H2 Diesel Engines, H3 Drive Train, H4 Brakes, H5 Suspension, Steering, H6 Electrical/Electronic Systems, H7 Heating, Ventilation, and A/C, or H8 Preventative Maintenance.
  • Class 7 Pennsylvania State Motor Vehicle Inspection License preferred.
  • AC 608 and 609 certification preferred.
  • Must possess and own hand tools.
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
