As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and positive atmosphere in the pool area, promoting member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain active surveillance of the pool area, ensuring the safety of all swimmers.
- Respond to emergency situations immediately, following YMCA policies and procedures.
- Build effective relationships with members, participants, and other staff, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
- Ensure accurate records are maintained, as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
- Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed.
- Check the pool for hazardous conditions when arriving.
- Perform chemical testing when not guarding, as required, and take appropriate action.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-service training.
- Minimum age of 16.
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid.
- Current Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard certification.
- Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
