Position Responsibilities:

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Clinic plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers in delivering timely and quality patient care services within a clinic setting. Responsibilities may include gathering patient information, providing care, and communicating effectively with patients and team members. This role involves collaboration within a team supporting multiple providers.

Main Duties:
  • Deliver patient care support as directed by Provider or RN
    • Administer therapies, including medications, schedule follow-up visits, and manage prior authorizations as needed.
    • Provide pre/post encounter or procedure care, along with preventative health information.
    • Collaborate with Providers and the team to enhance and manage quality goals.
    • May initiate, monitor, and discontinue IVs based on site requirements and training.
  • Room patients, manage patient flow, and collect necessary medical information.
    • Accurately measure and record patients' vital signs and other indicators in medical records.
    • Facilitate communication of medical information and confirm details with patients as needed.
    • Assist patients in preparing for physician examinations, offering psycho-emotional support.
    • Collect, label, and process specimens accurately and promptly.
    • Support physicians during procedures by preparing medications as required.
    • Organize patient flow to ensure efficient transitions between rooms.
    • Conduct follow-up calls to patients as directed, including notifying them of test results.
    • Document all patient interactions thoroughly in the medical record.
    • Schedule follow-up visits with providers or appropriate staff before patients leave.
  • Handle patient phone calls professionally.
    • Answer calls in a courteous and timely manner.
    • Confirm or clarify patient symptoms using their own words.
    • Arrange appropriate appointments or escalate to RN or provider for further review.
    • Document all encounters and patient interactions accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Process physician orders.
    • Perform clinical functions within the scope of the license as ordered by the physician.
    • Respond promptly to patient needs and requests.
    • Review patient charts prior to visits to ensure availability of test results and therapy reports.
    • Provide patients with appropriate instructions as directed by the physician.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms.
    • Ensure proper maintenance and sterilization of instruments as trained.
    • Restock teaching supplies and ensure availability for patient needs.
    • Stock and supply exam rooms according to established standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Associate's or Vocational degree from a Board of Nursing approved LPN program.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Two years of experience as a clinic LPN.
Licenses/Certifications:
  • Licensed Practical Nurse MN BON or Licensed Practical Nurse Wisconsin (if working in Wisconsin or interacting with Wisconsin patients remotely).
  • May require both state licenses based on the services provided at the location hired.
  • Must meet at least ONE of the following requirements:

    • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association

    • Current BLS certification from the American Red Cross

    • Allina in-house BLS training (within 30 days of hire).
