Transmission Technician Job Description

Seminole Chevrolet is seeking a skilled Transmission Technician to join our service team. As a Transmission Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining automotive transmissions on various types of vehicles. This role requires a strong understanding of transmission systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receive repair orders from the dispatcher and perform work as outlined with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform repairs.
  • Communicate with the parts department to obtain needed parts and save and tag parts if the job is under warranty or requested by the customer.
  • Examine the vehicle to determine if additional safety or service work is required and notify the service advisor immediately if additional work is not needed or required.
  • Supervise work of any apprentice technicians as assigned and keep the shop area clean and account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.
Requirements:
  • ASE certifications are a major plus.
  • GM experience and transmission tech experience are highly preferred.
  • Strong automotive background and strong teamwork skills are required.
  • Must be willing to submit to a background check and have a clean and valid driver's license.
