Job Summary:
The Night Shipping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating daily warehouse activities, including supervising staff, training, food safety, safety, and warehouse maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead warehouse staff to ensure they meet productivity and safety standards.
- Ensure compliance with safety codes, policies, and procedures of the Company and standards established by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA).
- Champion safety procedures, processes, and training to create and maintain a safety-first culture in the warehouse.
- Ensure compliance with Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and oversee warehouse maintenance, including equipment, facilities, and cleanliness.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance tasks as needed to ensure a smooth operation.
- Manage the organization of products and optimize warehouse space.
- Maintain records, report relevant information, and prepare necessary documentation.
- Communicate and coordinate with other departments and customers.
- Work closely with Warehouse Operations Managers to provide constant improvements to existing processes.
Requirements:
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a diverse team of Warehouse employees.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Familiarity with warehouse equipment.
- Ability to work well with others and consistently meet deadlines.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Degree in business, management, logistics, or a related field preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this job may include lifting and lowering heavy items, bending, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling heavy loads, working in awkward body postures, and performing the same or similar tasks repetitively.
Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. May require walking primarily on a level surface for periods throughout the day. Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lifting as required throughout the workday. Proper lifting techniques are required. May include lifting up to 50 pounds.
The temperature in the dry warehouse can range from 45 degrees in the winter to 95 degrees in the summer. Temperatures in the cooler range from 35 degrees to 41 degrees and from -5 degrees to 20 degrees in the freezer.
