Key Responsibilities- Provide Clinical Advice: Offer expert clinical advice to patients via phone or electronic correspondence, utilizing clinical judgments and triage protocols in accordance with regulatory requirements and standards of practice.
- Consult with Providers: Collaborate with healthcare providers as necessary to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Patient Education: Deliver patient-specific education on preventive care, chronic disease management, acute diagnosis, medications, and other areas pertinent to patient outcomes.
- Administrative Tasks: Prepare patients for visits, administer injections and medications as prescribed, and assist with various procedures and exams.
- Point of Care Testing: Perform Point of Care Testing, including hearing, flu, urine, and strep tests.
- Specimen Collection: Collect blood or other laboratory specimens and prepare them for further testing.
- Prescription Refills: Authorize prescription refills as instructed by healthcare providers.
- Test Tracking: Assist with test tracking and monitoring overdue results.
- Wound Care: Remove sutures and change dressings on wounds as necessary.
- Exam Room Maintenance: Ensure exam rooms are adequately supplied and cleaned after each patient visit.
- Medical Instrument Maintenance: Maintain and clean medical instruments and equipment after each procedure.
- Care Coordination: Assist with proactive outreach for patients requiring preventive and chronic disease services, and perform care coordination activities among specialists and transitions of care.
- Performance Improvement: Participate in performance improvement initiatives to enhance overall patient experience and quality of care.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to patients, visitors, and colleagues, and maintain confidentiality of patient information according to Lancaster General Health policies and procedures.
- Education: Completion of a LPN or RN educational program.
- Licensure: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), issued by the PA State Board of Nursing.
- Certification: AHA CPR/BLS certification required within 30 days of hire.
- Travel: Occasional regional travel may be required, and a valid driver's license is necessary if traveling.
