Facilities Maintenance Expert

We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Expert to join our team at Southwestern Community College. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that requires a minimum of 5 years' experience in heating and air conditioning fields.
The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, creativity, and ability to work under pressure with high risk to self. They must be able to read and write, and possess knowledge of air conditioning, pneumatic controls, heat pumps, air handlers, and low voltage controls.
This role involves performing routine checks on heating and air conditioning units, monitoring gas pressure and boilers, and repairing electrical components of gas boilers. The successful candidate will also assist with development of strategic energy plans, recommend changes to equipment and operations to conserve energy, and prepare materials lists for parts and supplies.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on heating and air conditioning units, including oil and grease circulating pumps, motors, and fan motors.
- Monitor gas pressure and boilers, and repair or replace as necessary.
- Assist with development of strategic energy plans and recommend changes to equipment and operations to conserve energy.
- Prepare materials lists for parts and supplies as needed.
Working Conditions
This position requires working in all types of weather conditions, around hazardous chemicals, high voltage, pesticides, acids, epoxy paints, gas, and on live circuits. The successful candidate must be able to lift heavy objects and use different equipment.
Equipment Operation
The ideal candidate will have experience operating various pieces of equipment, including amp meters, volt-ohm meters, ground and GFIC testers, different types of pressure gauges, pneumatic gauges, capacitor testers, circuit finders, PVC heat benders, backhoe, tractor, dump truck, emt bender, box knockouts, hydraulic knockouts, pneumatic control tools, band saw, moto tool, pullers, hammer drill, angle drill, sprayers, reciprocating saw, circular saw, drill press, small hand tools, torches, and fork lift.
Compensation and Benefits
This position offers a competitive salary of $65,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, employees receive excellent benefits, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
