Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Malpractice Paralegal to join our team at Jobot. As a key member of our insurance defense litigation team, you will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and clients throughout the litigation process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and organize medical records, expert reports, and other case-related documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Draft and prepare legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses, to support our attorneys in defending healthcare providers and institutions against medical malpractice claims.
  • Prepare and submit HIPAA-compliant authorizations for medical records to facilitate the exchange of sensitive information.
  • Assist in case management from intake through trial or settlement, ensuring timely and effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough legal research using various tools and databases to stay up-to-date on medical malpractice laws and regulations in Florida.
  • Coordinate with expert witnesses and manage their involvement in cases to ensure their testimony is relevant and effective.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring all deadlines are met and critical information is readily available.
  • Prepare attorneys for depositions, hearings, and trials by providing them with relevant information and supporting materials.
  • Assist in developing case strategies and analyzing claim merits to ensure the best possible outcome for our clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) or paralegal certificate with a strong foundation in medical terminology and the ability to interpret medical records.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in medical malpractice defense, with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong knowledge of medical malpractice laws and regulations in Florida, as well as proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities, with a focus on clear and concise communication.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy, and the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with insurance defense litigation and a strong understanding of the complexities involved.
  • Knowledge of electronic discovery platforms and the ability to manage large datasets.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and outside the box.
