The role of the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation of machinery and support systems through effective preventative maintenance. The responsibilities include:
- Interpreting technical diagrams, manuals, and specifications.
- Diagnosing mechanical issues by observing equipment in operation and utilizing precision tools.
- Conducting basic electrical repairs, including motor and switch replacements.
- Performing troubleshooting within electrical panels.
- Inspecting equipment for defects and executing necessary repairs.
- Operating various shop tools safely, including drill presses and lathes.
- Assisting teams with daily operations, changeovers, and troubleshooting.
- Installing and repairing production and utility equipment.
- Executing welding repairs and fabricating parts as needed.
- Disassembling and rebuilding machine components, including gearboxes and pumps.
- Managing start-up and shutdown procedures for boilers and refrigeration systems.
- Cross-training to support other maintenance and operations roles.
- Assisting with inventory management and parts organization.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in industrial equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ability to work a rotating schedule as needed.
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing is advantageous.
- Knowledge of electrical and PLC controls troubleshooting is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Basic math skills for measuring and adjustments.
- Strong mechanical maintenance abilities.
- Capability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Welding and metal fabrication skills are highly preferred.
- Relevant certifications in welding, refrigeration, or PLCs are beneficial.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds using proper techniques.
- Willingness to work in varying environmental conditions.
