George Fox University's College of Nursing is seeking a CRNA Assistant Program Director who is passionate about developing the CRNA program and preparing CRNAs to work in rural settings throughout Oregon.
About the Job:The CRNA Assistant Program Director is a faculty position with teaching, student advisement, service, and scholarship responsibilities. This role will work closely with and report to the CRNA Program Director.
Key Responsibilities:- Assisting with leadership of all aspects of the educational program, including administration, didactic and clinical curriculum, faculty recruitment and development, national accreditation, compliance with state regulations, and evaluation.
- Teaching CRNA courses and engaging in scholarship and service activities for the university.
- Demonstrating professional skills and interactions that support the mission and vision of the CRNA program and the university.
- Developing clinical sites and participating in the planning and coordination of clinical education functions.
- Assessing student performance, monitoring student progress, and providing timely feedback.
- Communicating between the academic institution, clinical partners, and all relevant stakeholders.
- Placing, supervising, and communicating with students throughout clinical experiences.
- Providing guidance and support to students to problem solve and discuss pertinent issues.
- Evaluating each clinical site and clinical coordinator through student feedback, on-site visits, and ongoing communication and relationship building.
- Developing and maintaining policies and procedures for clinical site selection, clinical coordinator selection, utilization, and evaluation.
- Maintaining an adequate number of clinical sites relative to quality, quantity, and diversity of learning experiences to meet the educational needs of students, the philosophy and outcomes of the program, and COA accreditation standards.
- Participating in accreditation.
- Coordinating and participating in the development of clinical education faculty.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect, and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- An active unencumbered Oregon APRN license.
- Current CRNA certification from NBCRNA.
- An earned doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Experience in teaching and learning principles for adult education, including curriculum development and administration.
- Current knowledge of CRNA practice and related professional issues.
- Current knowledge of institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements for nurse anesthesia educational programs.
- Minimum five years of full-time equivalent CRNA clinical experience.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church.
- Simulation experience in a high-fidelity lab.
Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor.
