Key Responsibilities- Coordinate the daily operations of the bakery and pastry department, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and presentation.
- Develop and implement new recipes and menu items, staying up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in the industry.
- Supervise and train a team of pastry chefs and bakers, providing guidance and support to ensure that they are meeting the required standards.
- Manage inventory and supplies, ensuring that the bakery and pastry department are well-stocked and equipped to meet the demands of the resort.
- Collaborate with other departments, including food and beverage, to ensure that all aspects of the resort's culinary operations are running smoothly.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations and protocols.
- Monitor and control food costs, ensuring that the bakery and pastry department are operating within budget.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity in the bakery and pastry department.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical school or culinary degree preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior baking or pastry role, with a proven track record of success in a high-volume kitchen environment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of pastry chefs and bakers.
- Strong knowledge of baking and pastry techniques, including artisan-style bread production, ice cream and sorbet production, sugar and chocolate work, and high-volume cake production.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and supplies, with a moderate level of physical ability required.
The work environment is fast-paced and dynamic, with a moderate level of noise and activity. The successful candidate will be required to work in a kitchen environment, with exposure to heat, steam, and other kitchen hazards.
