Job Summary

The City of New York is seeking a highly skilled Senior GIS Analyst and Program Manager to join our team. This is a critical role that will support the integration of the Office of Neighborhood Safety within the Department of Youth and Community Development.

The selected candidate will supervise and lead our data analysis and visualization team, developing and conducting comprehensive research and analysis to inform policy decisions. They will collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and develop compelling visuals using the Esri suite of software, including ArcGIS online and ArcGIS Pro.

The Senior GIS Analyst and Program Manager will be responsible for the administration of the City's ArcGIS organizational account, managing GIS licenses and providing guidance to internal users on the Esri software. They will also provide technical support, analytical skills, and services to identify, communicate, and resolve system issues.

The ideal candidate will have advanced ArcGIS technical skills, a strong sense of initiative, and the ability to prioritize, manage, and accomplish multiple projects simultaneously with minimal direction. They must be able to complete special projects and other duties as assigned to meet department needs and goals.

Qualifications
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, or environmental science or in public health.

To be appointed to Assignment Level II and above, candidates must have:

  • A doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and one year of full-time experience in a responsible supervisory, administrative or research capacity in the appropriate field of specialization; or
  • A master's degree from an accredited college or university with specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science and three years of responsible full-time research experience in the appropriate field of specialization; or
  • Education and/or experience which is equivalent to '1' or '2' above. However, all candidates must have at least a master's degree in an appropriate field of specialization and at least two years of experience described in '2' above.
