The Nurse Practitioner will play a crucial role in delivering comprehensive healthcare services to patients of all ages. Responsibilities include conducting thorough medical histories and physical examinations for both new and returning patients, ordering necessary diagnostic tests, and interpreting laboratory results. The Nurse Practitioner will also document findings in the electronic medical record, prescribe durable medical equipment, manage medication prescriptions and refills, collaborate with physicians to develop treatment plans, and perform additional duties as required. The ability to multitask, lead, and guide other clinical personnel is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide treatment for acute and chronic illnesses within the framework of a standard family medicine practice, ensuring a patient-centered and evidence-based approach to preventive care and health education.
- Address urgent medical conditions in accordance with licensure and credentialing.
- Regularly consult with supervising physicians regarding patient management and review care strategies as necessary.
- Engage in initiatives aimed at achieving Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) recognition and transformation.
- Contribute to the formulation and training of clinical protocols and guidelines.
- Conduct health assessments and implement preventive health strategies as per established guidelines and physician directives.
- Perform clinical procedures within the scope of training and expertise, including but not limited to contraceptive implants, IUD placements, skin biopsies, incision and drainage, suturing, and joint injections.
- Provide telephonic consultations to patients, address inquiries, and discuss test outcomes.
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic assessments to identify and address patients' clinical issues and healthcare requirements. Collaborate with physicians to develop and document care plans.
- Prescribe medications and other therapeutic interventions.
- Deliver health education and support to patients and their families.
- Actively participate in organizational projects, meetings, and initiatives as required.
- Assist in the training and oversight of medical assistants and other support personnel.
- Education
- Master's Degree in Nursing is mandatory.
- Current certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (AANP) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (ANCC) is required. An unrestricted RN and NP license is essential.
- Experience
- A minimum of one year of clinical practice as a Nurse Practitioner is required.
- Experience as a Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner in primary or urgent care settings is preferred.
- Must possess prescribing authority and DEA licensure in good standing.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association is required.
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association is required.
- Skills/Knowledge
- Bilingual abilities, particularly in Spanish, are preferred.
- Basic computer proficiency is necessary.
