Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Veenstra and Kimm, Inc. in Dubuque, Iowa or West Des Moines, Iowa office. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will work with our team to design and develop mechanical systems for various projects, including civil, municipal, and environmental projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop detailed mechanical designs, including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, plumbing, and other miscellaneous mechanical processes.
  • Assist in completing mechanical design for projects by working with assigned staff, other offices, project managers, and other engineers.
  • Select equipment to be used to satisfy project scope.
  • Provide design calculations, design drawings, project specifications, and construction observations for mechanical work on projects in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Ensure production of drawings, specifications, reports, and analyses meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Work with other disciplines to ensure no conflicts or interferences between disciplines.
  • Review and approve design drawings of other employees or offices for assigned segments of projects.
  • Coordinate with field personnel and contractors to resolve problems that arise during construction.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering design experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD drafting software.
  • Familiarity with process control and electrical systems.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Iowa or ability to obtain within 6 months.
