We are offering a competitive salary of $85,000 - $95,000 per year for this Radiology Technologist position in Morton Grove, Illinois.

About the Job:

This Radiology Technologist role is an exciting opportunity to join our team at Advocate Aurora Health, where we prioritize excellence, compassion, and respect. As a Radiology Technologist, you will play a crucial role in producing high-quality radiographic images, working closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate diagnoses.

Responsibilities:

  • Radiographic Image Production:
    • Operate x-ray equipment to produce radiographs of designated portions of the body as specified by a physician.
    • Maneuver portable radiographic equipment in patient care areas and in surgery as required.
    • Operate all components including all locking devices on radiographic, fluoroscopic equipment and c-arms.
    • Assist radiologists in performing fluoroscopic examinations.
    • Perform radiographic examination in surgery as required.
    • Operate all components of the Digital Imaging System.
    • Assist radiologists in performing mini-special procedures in the fluoroscopic suites.
    • Perform radiographic procedures on Level I Trauma patients to expedite immediate care of critically ill patients.
  • Patient Preparation and Safety:
    • Determine appropriate exposure factors and positions patient utilizing immobilization devices when appropriate to insure optimum film quality.
    • Prepare patients for exam. Obtain and record history, explain procedure, position patients and ensure their comfort.
    • Adhere to isolation/sterile techniques and radiation safety procedures.
    • Verify patient and procedure prior to starting exam.
  • Quality Assurance and Maintenance:
    • Review radiographs to ensure optimum quality.
    • Report environmental/equipment problems to appropriate resource personnel.
    • Perform required computer function for RIS/HIS systems.
    • Label all radiographs appropriately following department's established criteria and standards.
  • Professional Development and Teamwork:
    • Maintain an attitude of professionalism, cooperation, and positive interaction with co-workers, physicians, patients, and families.
    • Participate in assessment of own learning needs and actively seek opportunity for professional growth.
    • Attend in-services to ensure knowledge of current departmental and technical procedures.
    • Attend CPR classes to maintain re-certification.
    • Maintain appropriate state license and national board certification.
  • Supply Management and Patient Care:
    • Maintain supplies needed to ensure adequate level needed for quality patient care.
    • Ensure cleanliness of equipment and work area.
    • Maintain inventory of supplies in work area. Identify supplies and equipment needs for procedure, restock work area as necessary.
    • Use Universal Precautions in daily performance of procedures.
  • Age-Specific Care:
    • Maintain environment that is safe based on age and developmental status.
    • Comply with procedural standards in the care of children and adult population.
    • Assist with proper positioning and restraining of children and elderly patients as necessary.
    • Assist with patient/family participation in post-procedural care for all age groups and provide resource information as directed.
    • Reinforce appropriate psychosocial interventions based on age and developmental status.
    • Reassure children and aging patients.
    • Interact with families as so determined by need of case.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A graduate degree from an accredited school of Radiology Technology or Certificate/A Associate Degree in Radiology Technology
  • Previous experience in Radiology Technology is desirable
  • Good communication skills
  • BASIC understanding of R.I.S., and basic computer knowledge
  • ARRT Registered or registry eligible IDNS Licensed Current CPR Certification

Working Conditions:

You will be required to:

  • Work weekends, holidays, and emergency call backs to accommodate staffing needs
  • May be exposed to radiation during procedures
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, or be required to lift and move patients
  • May be exposed to hazardous materials, infectious disease, and participate in annual emergency drills
  • Required to maintain current CPR certification
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other associate, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
