POSITION OVERVIEW:
This role is essential in delivering personal assistance and specific health-related services aimed at preserving the physical and emotional health of clients residing at Maple Hill Senior Living. The incumbent will aid clients with daily living activities as outlined in their Service Agreement, Medication Administration Record (MAR), and other tasks as assigned by the Registered Nurse (RN).
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School diploma and certification as a CNA/NAR or HHA is preferred.
- Experience working with elderly individuals is advantageous.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate sensitivity and a strong aptitude for engaging with senior clients.
- Effectively prioritize and organize tasks to ensure efficiency.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills with clients, families, staff, and other stakeholders.
- Possess the ability to read, write, and understand simple instructions and documentation, including medical terminology, in English.
- Maintain punctuality and a commendable attendance record, showcasing strong interpersonal skills.
- Understand the proper use and responsibility of a cell phone while on duty.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Medication Administration:
- Administer medications and provide reminders to clients as required, following the MAR and RN Supervisor's directives.
- Adhere to policies regarding PRN standing orders and narcotic administration.
- Reorder medications and supplies as necessary.
- Comply with infection control standard precautions.
- Perform additional medication-related tasks as assigned by the RN Supervisor.
Personal Care Duties:
- Assist clients with daily living activities as specified in their service agreements, including dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Support clients in maintaining a tidy living space and perform light housekeeping tasks.
- Encourage client independence by offering choices and promoting self-help skills.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Record any changes in clients' conditions in their charts and communicate these to the RN Supervisor.
- Complete incident reports as per policy.
- Document completed duties on the service delivery record during each shift.
Compliance and Training:
- Understand and comply with relevant regulations and policies, including those related to vulnerable adults and HIPAA.
- Complete required training hours and maintain current health assessments.
Team Collaboration:
- Foster positive relationships with all staff members and contribute to a supportive team environment.
- Participate actively in staff meetings and training sessions.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
Other responsibilities may be assigned as needed to support the mission and values of Maple Hill Senior Living.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
General Strength:
Moderate Work: Lifting a maximum of 50 lbs. with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
