We are seeking a highly qualified Physics Instructor to join our team at Laredo College. As a Physics Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching science courses in your discipline, preparing lecture and/or laboratory materials, and evaluating student progress.
Responsibilities:- Teach assigned courses in your discipline, including physics and related sciences.
- Prepare and review departmental syllabus, which informs students about course requirements, absences, tardiness, testing, assignments, and grading policies.
- Provide students with regular evaluations of their progress, including prompt returns of assignments, quizzes, and examinations.
- Compile, administer, and grade instruments that evaluate students' progress.
- Participate in assessment activities at course, department, and college levels to assist students in achieving designated course objectives or learning outcomes.
- Provide educational assistance within assigned courses, including tutoring, referral to available student support services, and acting as an educational resource for students.
- Counsel students and notify them of frequent absences, failures, or necessary make-up work.
- Meet all assigned classes on time and be available to students 15 minutes before class and 15 minutes after class, except between classes when teaching back-to-back classes, for face-to-face sections.
- Follow procedures and deadlines related to the Registration office, including submitting final grades, midterm grades, drops prior to the census date, and other requirements in PASPort.
- A Bachelor's Degree is required.
- Preferred: A Bachelor's Degree in a field of science is preferred.
- Some experience teaching at the community and/or senior college level is desirable.
