Position Overview:
The Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at California State University Chico is seeking applications for a pool of temporary lecturers to teach during the academic year. These positions are contingent upon departmental needs and may be filled shortly before the commencement of the term.
Teaching Responsibilities:
Lecturers will be responsible for instructing various general education courses, including:
- Earth Systems and Physical Geography
- Peoples, Places, and Environments
- The American West
- Global Economic Geography
- Geography and World Affairs
- Sustainability and Climate Change Issues
- Digital Planet
- Introduction to Land Use Planning
- The United States
Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Master's degree or higher in Geography or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution by the time of employment. Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience teaching at the undergraduate level, particularly in lower-division courses, laboratory settings, or online formats. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Instructors will engage in:
- Developing course materials and content
- Delivering lectures and facilitating discussions
- Grading assignments and providing feedback
- Holding office hours for student support
- Utilizing a learning management system for course administration
