Staff Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Staff Nurse to join our Radiation Oncology team at Novant Health.
Job SummaryThe Staff Nurse will work under the direction of the Director, Manager or Designated Leader, providing high-quality patient care in an interdisciplinary model. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and critical thinking skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
Responsibilities- Perform nursing assessments to gather data and identify patient needs, per ANA standards and NCBON.
- Coordinate and communicate patient care needs for discharge planning in interdisciplinary care conferences and with members of the healthcare team.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of nursing care with patients and families, addressing identified needs and concerns.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members in coordinating the plan of care and facilitating patient outcomes.
- Implement and evaluate patient responses to care through assessment and reassessment, updating the plan of care as needed.
- Provide care based on established standards of practice, policies, and protocols.
- Ensure timely and efficient patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Demonstrate leadership by providing information as a resource nurse, mentor, and coach, delegating nursing care activities as needed.
- Apply critical thinking skills for problem-solving and anticipating patient care needs.
- Document assessments, delivery of care, and patient responses to care in the medical record.
- Provide information and facilitate patient/family teaching.
- Participate in performance improvement initiatives to improve processes and outcomes.
- Demonstrate accountability for ongoing learning needs, completion of annual education requirements, and competencies.
- Perform moderate or waived point-of-care testing per CLIA guidelines.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A current Registered Nurse license.
- An Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in radiation oncology or a related field, preferred.
