Certified Surgical Technologist/ORT NYC Contract Position

Job Summary:
This Certified Surgical Technologist position is available at Northwell Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and communicating the age-specific plan of care, giving thorough reports at change of shift and relief time, and participating in turnover activities and room set up for each surgical procedure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establishes and maintains a sterile field and monitors the aseptic technique of the surgical team
- Documents accordingly and takes corrective action, as necessary
- Adheres to and monitors principles of aseptic techniques in the clinical environment
- Follows procedure for decontaminating of all instruments used during the procedure
- Maintains environmental controls and takes appropriate precautions regarding waste disposal
- Performs sponge, sharp, and instrument counts with the RN according to policy
- Ensures appropriate and safe use of equipment and instrumentation prior, during and post-operatively
- Assists surgeon with patient care procedures, including proper labeling of all specimens from surgical field
Requirements:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience as a Surgical Technologist or in a clinical setting
- Successful completion from a nationally accredited educational program for surgical technologist, and holds and maintains a certified surgical technologist (CST) credential administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
Salary and Benefits:
The salary range for this position is $52-$65/hour.
