Role Overview:
The Fitter Welder Apprentice is tasked with the local delivery and execution of fitting, fabrication, and core welding activities. This role adheres to the principles, corporate policies, and operational procedures of Johnson Controls. The apprentice will engage in various functions aimed at enhancing employee engagement, safety, productivity, and compliance within a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply a minimum of 6 months of MIG welding experience to production tasks.
- Operate Miller Aluma Pro Mig gun for fitting, fabrication, and welding.
- Utilize manual and semi-automatic welding equipment for metal fusion using GMAW and Plasma Cutter techniques.
- Employ manual and semi-automatic flame-cutting tools.
- Maintain adherence to safety protocols.
- Conduct technical inspections and prepare management reports.
- Interpret blueprints and specifications to ensure functionality as designed.
- Ensure task accuracy and project completion.
- Maintain detailed documentation and reports.
- Stay updated on technological advancements and compliance standards.
- Assist in motor coupling installations.
- Participate in training programs as required.
- Promote 5S methodology throughout the facility.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform other assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of 2G plate welding test and 6G short arc pipe welding test.
- Proficient in using various hand tools and machinery for metal manufacturing.
- Standard knowledge of blueprints.
- Collaborate with supervisors to enhance work cell efficiency and meet production targets.
- Ability to manage work orders effectively.
- Strong skills in operating metalworking machinery.
- Ability to read and comprehend production drawings and instructions.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 6 months of MIG Alloy and Steel welding experience.
- High School Diploma, GED, or relevant certifications.
- Commitment to safety policies and protocols.
- Strong quality orientation and time management skills.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Creative problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification from a welding technical school.
