Clinical Oncology Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our team as a Clinical Oncology Nurse Specialist. This is a full-time opportunity for an experienced nurse to provide direct care to adult oncology patients.
About the RoleAs a Clinical Oncology Nurse Specialist, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Providing direct nursing care to assigned patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care plans.
- Clinical leadership and guidance to other staff members, ensuring seamless handovers and optimal patient outcomes.
- Assuming relief charge duties when designated, demonstrating strong leadership skills and ability to manage complex situations.
You will be responsible for promoting a positive work environment, fostering collaboration among team members, and adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
Key ResponsibilitiesYour key responsibilities will include:
- Patient Care: Deliver safe and effective direct care to assigned patients, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.
- Policies: Work within established hospitals, nursing division, and departmental policies, promoting adherence and compliance.
- Care Plans: Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, considering age-specific needs and discharge planning.
- Tests and Procedures: Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent and patient preparation.
- Participation: Participate in orientation programs and assume precepting responsibilities for new personnel upon successful completion.
- Emergency Measures: Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in patients.
- Medical Records: Ensure patient medical records contain necessary information, maintaining accuracy and completeness.
- Inquiries: Answer telephones and triage calls according to departmental policy, providing timely and empathetic responses.
- Medication: Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights, documenting and communicating clinical findings.
- Environment: Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families, adhering to hospital standards.
- Development: Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, reading current literature, attending in-services, meetings, and workshops.
- Patient Safety 1-5: Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures, and protocols, demonstrating proactive approaches to improving patient safety.
To be considered for this role, you must possess:
- Education: A program graduate (essential), or a bachelor's degree (non-essential).
- Experience: No essential experience required; however, non-essential experience may include bilingual English/Keres, Tewa, Tiwa, Towa, Zuni, or Navajo language skills.
- Credentials: CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuers within 30 days (essential), RN in New Mexico or reciprocal agreement (essential), nationally certified in an area of specialty (non-essential), PALS, TNCC, and/or ENPC (non-essential).
This role requires heavy work, exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people.
CompensationThe estimated annual salary for this position is between $80,000 and $110,000, depending on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
