Job Overview

The Campus Facilities Maintenance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the overall functionality of the campus by collaborating closely with the Campus Superintendent and the maintenance team. This position encompasses a variety of maintenance tasks aimed at ensuring the smooth operation of the facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine maintenance of the building and office areas, ensuring cleanliness in hallways, kitchens, conference rooms, lobbies, corridors, storage spaces, and other work environments.
  • Cleaning tasks may involve removing waste, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, dusting, buffing, cleaning carpets, washing windows, scrubbing floors and ceilings, and sanitizing restrooms.
  • Perform minor repairs and modifications to the building, which may include furniture assembly, custodial equipment repairs, touch-up painting, and hanging educational materials.
  • Carry out daily inspections of the grounds and buildings to identify hazards and damages.
  • Complete and submit work orders for necessary repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain cleanliness and monitor restrooms throughout the day to uphold health and safety standards, adhering to Universal Precautions when dealing with bodily fluids.
  • Follow security protocols and report any suspicious activities to the Campus Superintendent and the Director of Facilities.
  • Open and close the facility as needed for various activities, ensuring the premises remain secure at all times.
  • Prepare rooms for daily functions, board meetings, events, and special classes, ensuring areas are tidy and furniture is stored appropriately after use.
  • Utilize daily custodial documentation, including checklists, logs, and work orders.
  • Receive, unpack, store, and distribute instructional and custodial supplies to the appropriate personnel or storage areas, ensuring accuracy in delivery notes and addressing any discrepancies.
  • Assist with funeral, entombment, and internment services at the on-site Mausoleum as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Campus Superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in building maintenance, custodial work, and groundskeeping.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to comprehend work instructions and communicate effectively in English.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks amidst frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to interact and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Recognize the importance of workplace safety, follow safety protocols, and report unsafe conditions to supervisors.
  • Commitment to promoting and adhering to organizational policies and procedures.
  • Availability to work nights and weekends as required.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent vocational training.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in custodial work, operating custodial equipment, and basic computer skills.
