**Job Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our Perception and Autonomy team. As a key member of our team, you will collaborate with other experts to develop algorithms that enable our autonomous vehicles to better understand their environment. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Developing multi-modal, multi-view, multi-task end-to-end deep learning models to solve various perception objectives, such as object detection and tracking, lane segmentation, scene understanding, traffic light and traffic sign detection.
  • Completing ownership of projects from ideation to deployment, including data requirements, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Researching and prototyping novel solutions to tackle real-world problems in challenging and diverse scenarios.
  • Ensuring all model development is efficient and operates in real-time, even in compute-constrained environments.
  • Applying a rigorous approach to model development, including well-designed experiments, suitable training and validation datasets, and evaluation on the right metrics.

**Requirements**

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Expertise in Python and a willingness to do some C++ development as needed.
  • A deep understanding of machine learning principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with implementing deep learning models in at least one deep learning framework (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).

**Preferred Skills**

We are looking for candidates with:

  • Relevant industry experience, particularly in self-driving vehicles, autonomy, computer vision, and/or robotics projects.
  • Past experiences in deep learning projects involving object detection, motion tracking, or semantic segmentation.
  • An in-depth understanding of cutting-edge deep learning techniques and architectures, such as transformers and CNNs.
  • Expertise in machine learning or a related field demonstrated by patents or publications in relevant venues.
  • Experience or familiarity with vision-language models.
