Emergency Department Nurse Position in Portales, New Mexico

Job Details- Salary: $65,000 - $85,000 per year (based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week)
- Job Type: Travel nursing position with Magnet Medical
The successful candidate will provide critical care to patients in the Emergency Department, working in a fast-paced environment to deliver immediate care to patients suffering from injuries, illnesses, or trauma. The role involves assessing, triaging, and treating patients in collaboration with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities- Triage and Patient Assessment:
- Evaluate patient history and physical assessments to determine urgent health issues and prioritize care.
- Collect patient vital signs and other relevant data to determine immediate care needs.
- Emergency Care and Treatment:
- Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
- Perform wound care, splinting, suturing, and other interventions as needed for trauma or injury patients.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Work closely with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Assist with diagnostic testing, such as lab work, imaging, and electrocardiograms.
- Patient Discharge and Follow-Up:
- Provide discharge instructions and explain the next steps in care.
- Educate patients on preventive measures and care after discharge.
- Teamwork and Mentorship:
- Collaborate with emergency room staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
- Act as a mentor or preceptor for new nurses and students.
